Cats

Fear Free is an initiative aimed at reducing fear, anxiety, and stress in cats during veterinary visits. It focuses on understanding feline behaviour, creating a calming environment, and using gentle handling techniques tailored to cats. Strategies include desensitisation, counterconditioning, and, when necessary, medications to ease anxiety. Cat owners are educated on recognising and reducing stress in their pets at home. Individualised care plans are tailored to each cat’s unique needs. The goal is to improve the emotional well-being of cats, making veterinary visits and daily care less stressful, and fostering better relationships between cats and their caregivers.

Litter Tray Information

Litter trays are essential for indoor cats, but it is beneficial for all cats, including those with outdoor access, to have a litter tray available. This ensures that cats always have a clean and accessible place to relieve themselves.

Environmental Needs of Indoor Cats

Knowing how cat’s behave allows us to provide an environment for them that enhances their health and overall quality of life. When cat’s are unable to express their natural behaviours, it can lead to stress and undesirable behaviours which overall impacts the cat-human relationship.

Cat Carrier Training

Visits to a veterinary clinic can be stressful for both cats and owners. Training a cat to comfortably use a carrier can make vet visits, travel, and emergencies much less stressful for both you and your cat.

Scratching Needs

Cats need to scratch in order to keep their claws sharp, to exercise and to stretch their muscles. Scratching is also a way in which they can mark their territory.
