It is your responsibility to check the latest requirements for your destination and method of travel. Some countries require a vet wellness check in addition to an AHC, which can be carried out at the same appointment.

Travel to the EU

Traveling to the EU from the UK with a pet requires a microchip, a valid rabies vaccination, and an Animal Health Certificate (AHC) issued by an authorized vet. Ensure all requirements are met at least 21 days before travel. Check specific country regulations and contact your vet for detailed guidance.

Importing from Abroad

Importing a dog to the UK requires a microchip, a valid rabies vaccination, and an Animal Health Certificate (AHC) or pet passport. The dog must also be treated for tapeworm 1-5 days before arrival. Use an approved transport company and route. Check government guidelines for any additional requirements.

Apply for AHC

Ensure your pet has a microchip and a valid rabies vaccination. The AHC must be issued within 10 days of travel and is valid for 4 months within the EU. Contacting your vet early will ensure all requirements are met.
