At Westport Veterinary Clinic we want to make preventive health care easy and affordable, to help you give your pets the best care possible. Our dog plans provide year-round protection against all the main ecto and endoparasites: Fleas, Roundworms, Tapeworms, Ticks and Lungworm. The plans also includes yearly booster vaccination cover against Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvo Virus, Leptospirosis as well as vaccination against Kennel Cough (Canine Parainfluenza Virus and the bacteria Bordetella bronchiseptica).
We advise routine vaccination against these diseases as if contracted can very easily lead to fatal consequences. We include the Kennel Cough vaccine as standard on our plans as the variety of bacteria and viruses which cause Kennel Cough spread very easily potentially causing nasty respiratory infections.
Whilst it is true that the risk of picking up the illness is increased when there are a lot of dogs close together, such as when in kennels. Every year we see flare-ups of kennel cough in our non-vaccinated patients, even with lots having not visited kennels. Dogs don’t even need to come into direct contact with each other as the disease can be carried by cough droplets – very much like the human cold and flu.
Look at the tables below to give you an idea on the kind of savings you can make;
Our cat plan provides annual vaccinations to cover the following infectious diseases – rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, panleukopenia and leukaemia. We will advise which is the most appropriate vaccinations depending on the lifestyle of your cat.
We will also provide the most appropriate year round parasite control whether your cat prefers indoors, outdoors or is an avid hunter.
This will ensure the health and safety of not only your cat, but your own health too.
Our new and improved cat plan now includes an annual blood pressure check and basic in-house urinalysis (free-catch) as standard.
Our Rabbit FOWP includes vaccinations against Myxo + RHD which are disease often endemic in wild populations and often have fatal consequences. We also vaccinate against RHD-2 which is a relatively new disease spreading up through the UK.
During the summer months, flystrike can be a real concern with flies able to cause serious, sometimes fatal damage in 24 hours. Rearguard is a product which helps keep flies away so reducing the risk of Flystrike, for this reason we have included one of these with our FOWP plan.
