Team Westport recently held a full day in-house CPD for the team with the topic of Performance Under Pressure!

The course was provided by Core Cognition, and presented by the brilliant Dr Stephen Hearns and Professor Patrick Pollock. Dr Hearns is a Consultant with Scotland’s Medical Retrieval Service, and Professor Pollock is a Professor of Veterinary Surgery and Remote and Rural Medicine.
Prior to the day course, the team received access to the Core Cognition online course Frontline Performance. This covered topics such as The Arc of Performance, The Pressure Pump, Pressure Control, Pressure Testing, and Pressure Release Valves. This gave us a good baseline understanding of what to expect for the day’s CPD.
On the day CPD we covered topics such as:
High Pressure Experiences
Teamwork Under Pressure
Learning from Experience
Training for High Performance
Cognitive Aids
Equipment for Emergencies
Decision Making
Putting it into Practice.
The day was filled with lots of team discussions about personal experiences, and how we can put new ideas into place for emergency situations. Everyone really enjoyed the day and learned a lot from each other’s experiences!

We want to thank Dr Hearns and Professor Pollock for spending the day with us and delivering the course!
