Millie’s story
“My name is Bethany, I am 28 years old and on my 11th birthday I met my soul dog Millie.”
“I still remember the drive home to pick her up in the car with her on my knee and her getting into my bed with me on that first night. Little did I know the life and journey together we had ahead of us.”
“From that moment on Millie was my companion through everything. She supported me through 4 different schools, moving 3000 miles away to start all over together, going to university, meeting my now husband, she was there on my wedding day and having my baby. She very nearly made it to our son’s first birthday but we helped her cross over to the rainbow bridge just a couple of weeks before and since then she has been missed in every moment.”
“Millie’s whole life was an act of kindness, she got me through every single hard day I had. I truly believe I wouldn’t be here without her and her unconditional love for me. She was the one who got me through my hardest days and I believe she stayed with me as long as she did, until she knew I was in safe hands, settled and happy with my husband and our little boy. We were best friends for 17 years and every single day of that she showed me true love and kindness when humans didn’t, she really is so deserving of this award.”
