Westport Veterinary Clinic opened a new veterinary practice branch in Winchburgh on Monday 12th January 2026.
The Independently owned practice now has four branches, with others in Linlithgow, South Queensferry and Edinburgh – as well as operating Westport 24, their own Out-of-Hours Emergency Service.
They also have a custom built Cat Clinic at the Linlithgow branch, and hold the ISFM Gold Cat Friendly Clinic Accreditation – awarded by the International Society of Feline Medicine to veterinary clinics – ensuring the highest level of care for your cats on every visit.
Registered clients are able to use all four branches, and have Team Westport available to them 24/7, 365 days, with Westport 24 which operates out of their Linlithgow branch out of hours.
Expanding the business to Winchburgh has been a work in progress since 2025, with building renovations being completed to convert the property into two consulting rooms, a procedure room, pharmacy, kennels, in-house laboratory and a staff room. The Winchburgh branch is easily accessible for clients with disabled access and near-by parking, on street parking and additional parking available at the nearby Sainsbury’s Local.

They have increased staffing, employing additional veterinary surgeons, registered veterinary nurses and two part-time veterinary receptionists, these roles support both the new branch and the wider practice. Expanding the team also means they have been able to extend opening hours at their Drumbrae branch in Edinburgh. They are also in the process of expanding the Westport 24 team, with the out-of-hours emergency service being increasingly busy since it launched in April 2025.
Managing Director and Senior Veterinary Surgeon, Stuart McMorrow, cut the ceremonial ribbon for the official opening of the Winchburgh branch.
Stuart McMorrow, says:
“This expansion is about serving our clients better and improving access to care locally, while also strengthening our Westport 24 emergency service. Winchburgh is a growing area, and opening a branch here allows us to be closer to the clients and pets we already care for. By registering with Westport Vets, clients also gain access to our in-house 24-hour emergency service, ensuring continuity of care day and night.”
The Winchburgh branch has been a welcome addition to the local, and wider, community:

Rozlyn Cooper was the first client to have an appointment for her dog, Tibetan Terrier, Baxter, at the new Winchburgh branch.
Rozyln says:
“Westport Vets are a brilliant addition to Winchburgh. Baxter was delighted to be the first to visit the new practice. This is testament to the team who have ensured he has only had positive experiences when visiting them at South Queensferry.”

Sam McWhinie and Emily Reay were the first to have an appointment for their cat, Maine Coon cross Norwegian Forest Cat, Lupin, at the Winchburgh branch.
Sam says:
“Our visit to Westport Vets in Winchburgh was fantastic. Lupin’s annual consultation was thorough, professional, and reassuring. The branch’s convenient location made for a quick and easy journey, allowing a stress-free experience for Lupin. Thanks again!”

Kirsty Hunter visited the Winchburgh branch with her Airedale, Mungo.
Kirsty says:
“I was slightly apprehensive when your team asked if I would like to use the new Winchburgh branch for Mungo’s appointment, as I love the service received at South Queensferry, but worry not. The new Winchburgh practice is wonderful, with the same friendly faces and excellent service as I’ve always had, not to mention a lovely location and parking close by.”

Helen Robertson had an appointment with her Double Doodle puppy Betty.
Helen says:
“I was so pleased to hear that Westport Vets were opening a practice in Winchburgh, and got an appointment for a healthy Puppy Check on opening day, which was just the day after I brought my pup home!”
“I was really impressed with the welcome I received and the level of care that the team showed me and Betty, that I immediately joined the friends of Westport scheme to make sure Betty continues to get the same great care. Betty has now been in for her second vaccinations and the team were again fantastic with us both.”
“It’s great that I don’t need to leave the village for Betty’s vet care.”

Hilary Crighton, visited with her Chihuahua, Bear.
Hilary says:
“We enjoyed our visit to the Winchburgh surgery – it was so lovely and welcoming we didn’t realise it had only opened that morning. The parking was convenient and the surgery was lovely and clean and quiet.”

Jonny Stableford attended with his German Shorthaired Pointer, Maddie.
Jonny says:
“The new Winchburgh practice reminds me a lot of the original practice in Linlithgow. Although it’s smaller than the other facilities, it holds the charm and intimacy I like. Although if you’re in reception waiting whilst my monster is trying to convince everyone there’s nothing wrong with her, you’ll probably hear the carry on she often makes. There’s parking right outside which is pretty handy and it’s close to the motorway if you’re travelling in or out. Not that I visit more than we need to, but it’s a good facility to have near by.”

Joe Cook had an appointment with his Pomeranian, Bella.
Joe says:
“A visit to the newly opened Winchburgh branch with Bella to see Stuart and the wonderful team Westport, the new practice looks really nice and peaceful. The reception team are just great at calming not just Bella but her owner too, love the nursing care and the attention given to Bella from the whole team. Good luck and congratulations to you.”
Westport Vets will be hosting an official open day event at the new Winchburgh branch on Saturday 7th March 2026 – official times of the event will be advertised on their social media platforms.
Clients registered at Westport Vets have the option to attend all four branches for appointments, and they are always welcoming new clients!
